I’m making a new album, and I need your help! Click here to back my new album.
Since my 2012 release “Monarch,” I’ve written a batch of songs that I’m very proud of and can’t wait to show you.
About half of the songs were written this winter, when I spent six weeks on a tiny island in New York through The Lighthouse Works artist residency program. I got a little room to myself where I wrote, and sang, and thought, and generally tried to keep warm. There was some whiskey, too.
I’ve waited so long since the last CD because I wanted these songs to count, and I think I’m ready.
I’m bringing a good friend, Joe Reyes, on board to help me record this album, and he and I are on the same page: less is more. I loved the lushness of Monarch, and I’m ready to tell another story–one that will make you feel like you’re in the room with us while we played, one that is intimate and real.
When you pledge to my Kickstarter campaign, you’re a part of that story. And for me, that story is very personal. There are not many bells and whistles between me, the microphone and you.
Songs on the new record will include “Little Boat on a Wave,” “Winter’s Song,” and “Aloha.” Others, you may not have even heard yet. I’m most excited about the Bootleg pledge level, because you’re getting a snapshot of the real studio, the real people, little editing and gloss and shimmer. Just us and the songs–plus, it will include a song or two that’s not even on the new record.
Thank you for being a backer of this project!
